New Music: National Opera – Even Then

National Opera vocalist Jack Cahill pours much of himself, including his fears, into the mournful ballad, Even Then.

The track is deceptively soothing, quietly anthemic in its own distinctive way, driven by a lilting and uplifting guitar melody. Cahill’s vocals perform a similar role, calming and reassuring, all of which doesn’t prepare you for the lyrics, which come across as a lament for a world that isn’t quite gone but may be sooner than we think.

Says Cahill about the song’s genesis, “The concept of mortality against the infinite is terrifying but also fascinating, and mortality in itself is beautiful; life is imperfect.”

“A lot of my lyrics are about my own fears in some way or another, and Even Then is the same in that sense, but it tries to face that fear with courage and calm.”

Even Then and previous single, The End Of Your Fast Car, are streaming on all major music platforms, including SoundCloud, YouTube Music, and Spotify. Get yourself to Facebook and Instagram to learn more about National Opera.
