New Music: Schau.Schou – In the dark

A collaboration between Norwegian duo, songwriter Kristopher Schau and producer Christoffer Schou, In the dark is indie rock at its most intimate.

Featuring on their appropriately titled January EP, it shows how the two artists – with similar names but different musical backgrounds – worked so well together.

Not only is Kristopher Schau a Norwegian radio and TV personality, but he is also an active musician, known for his work in rock acts like The Dogs, White Urine and The Cumshots. Christoffer Schou, by contrast, is recognised for his dreamy pop soundscapes with bands such as Remington Super 60, Rinjin, and Twirlies.

The main vocals have a lived-in quality, so much so that when the lyrics opine ‘feels like you haven’t slept in years,’ you really believe it. Schau and Schou build a sweet, sad arrangement around it: 80s indie and 60s rock that find their mellow and easy-going tones amplified by the presence of labelmate Sara Leander.

January by Schau.Schou was released on the 23rd of January via Café Superstar and can be heard on SoundCloud and Spotify. Head to Instagram for all the latest news from the duo.
