New Music: Guest Directors – Meet You on the Land

Swirling shoegaze and indie rock combine on Meet You on the Land, the first single from Guest Director’s new album Before You Get Broken.

Meet You on the Land does not confine its creativity to any one genre, as the vocals find a place between goth and folk, as the band similarly picks swatches of colours from those genres’ sonic palettes. The overall effect is, rather like the lyrics, a siren call that leaves you immersed in the song’s story.

And what a story! Says the band, “[Meet You on the Land] tells the story of a mermaid who’s not interested in giving it all up for her prince – a bit of a spin on The Little Mermaid.”

Before You Get Broken is out on the 1st of May in digital and CD formats, plus a limited run of 100 vinyl copies on Bandcamp. The band play Portland in the lead-up to that and holds a launch party on the 2nd of May in Seattle.
