New Music: Ghost Fetish – Look at Me

Seattle trio Ghost Fetish delve into nostalgia and retro-futurism on Look at Me from their new album, Sculpture.

Keeping loosely to the themes established in last month’s Waterfall single, Kevin Fenwick – along with bandmates Riley Jakubowski and Doug Indrick – traverses the decades, the 80s finding common cause with modern electronic-tinged post-punk. It gives Look at Me dark and resonant pastel colours in the vein of New Order and Cold Cave but with an Italo-style romance reminiscent of Male Tears and Selofan, textured and full of emotion. On an album full of dark delights, this is one of my favourites, brooding and effortlessly danceable.
