New Music: Ghost Fetish – Waterfall

Seattle’s Ghost Fetish have followed up recent dark gem Someone with the equally entrancing Waterfall.

The track, which will also appear on the band’s Sculpture LP, sees the trio build on and evolve from the post-punk ambience of Someone. There’s what could be proto dream pop in the guitars; the vocals have a haunting New Wave aspect that adds a layer of melancholy to Waterfall that makes you feel like it’s gazing into your very soul.

You can hear the faint presence of New Order and The Cure here, but I’d file Ghost Fetish alongside Drab Majesty and Male Tears: mining the past to help make sense of the present.
