New Music: ACUA – Fearing And Facing The World

German indie group ACUA show us what to expect on their UK tour and new album, with Fearing And Facing The World.

A track from their Flood My Eyes album, it’s a glimpse into how the Cologne-based band’s sound has progressed since 2022’s Is There More Past Or More Future album. The influence of lo-fi and indie is less pronounced, though still present, but with drummer Cora on vocals and a relaxed demeanour in the arrangement and production, it allows the band to explore different dynamics and dimensions.

It harnesses less of a psych attitude, utilising the contrast between quieter bridges and explosive choruses to push home the recurring line, ‘Fearing and facing the world is all I ever do,’ a piercing statement delivered in a calm and considered manner before emotions become too much to bear.

ACUA play Lark in Berlin on the 26th of June, tour the UK in July, stopping off in London, Brighton, Bristol, Liverpool, Birmingham, and Lancaster.
