New Music: BARCLAY’S – If It Kills Me

Louisville, Kentucky based BARCLAY’S have followed up June’s To a Candid World album with the sharp, punk tones of If It Kills Me.

The claustrophobia and intensity of If It Kills Me is palpable, the No-Wave jazz/indie/punk noirish mashup in the arrangement giving added impetus to that sense of emotional enclosure. The vocals come across like they were recorded on the run, fear and anxiety running through them but letting the lyrics flow, discordant but always riveting.

States the band, “[If It Kills Me] is out-of-breath and overheated. Shamelessly acting a part to get what you want out of a relationship. It’s like a lab rat that keeps eating in spite of strengthening electrical shocks with each bite.”
