New Music: Blake Harley – Linger On

The opening track on her recent Happy Tears EP, Linger On sees Blake Lively bring the listener on a muslin-veiled journey into romance and the alternative sounds of the 80s.

Though the melody makes the track easy to dance to – something that may be much more fun with someone you love – the song is dominated by Blake Harley’s vulnerable vocals and some deliciously gothic overtures.

The thunderous bassline and the haunting xylophone add a haunting quality to Linger On, but the sense of hope always shines through. If you’re a fan of Riki or Molly Nilsson, this song – in fact the whole EP – is for you.

Happy Tears is out now via Duchess Box Records. It can be downloaded on Bandcamp and streamed on all major music platforms. Catch up with Blake Harley on Facebook and Instagram to learn more about the person behind the music.
