New Music: Color Theory – The Last Time

It’s possible that grief and loss inform the lyrics of The Last Time, but the song is far from being a downbeat affair.

Brian Hazard’s Color Theory mark the passing of time here, casting an element of doubt into daily occurrences that gain added meaning when their context changes.

We don’t know when an act will be the last time that we do it, an unknown weight that can lie under our conscious thoughts, informing our feelings slowly, and possibly too late. It’s an incredibly moving song, framed in a light, intricate, retro-infused synthpop arrangement.

Says Hazard, “The Last Time calls attention to the unnoticed goodbyes hidden within everyday life, the subtle moments we rarely notice until they’re gone.”

“The song highlights ordinary yet profound experiences we often overlook, such as holding a loved one’s hand, sharing a bedtime kiss with a child, or a night sleeping under the stars.
