New Music: de.fo – Autumn Leaves

There’s a timeless and decidedly Liverpudlian quality to the vividly drawn seasonal tones of Autumn Leaves. The track features on Eternity, the new album from Merseyside-based musician Tom Powell, recording here as de.fo.

Indie-pop, folk, and at times an almost orchestral take on psychedelia are to the fore on Autumn Leaves, creating a reassuring, comforting tone. If the track has a feeling of familiarity, that may be down to the presence of Powell – known for his work with Michael Head and the Red Elastic Band – on vocals, guitar, and bass; accompanied by members of acts like Belle and Sebastian, The Stands and more on performing and production duties.

Shares Powell about the song, “The changing of the seasons symbolise the ebb and flow of life’s challenges. Autumn Leaves is a heartfelt reminder that time is a healer, and as winter embraces the fallen leaves, it also embraces us, mending what’s broken and offering hope for brighter days.”

Eternity is out now and can be purchased in vinyl, CD, and digital formats on Bandcamp. The album can also be streamed on Apple Music, Spotify, and Soundcloud. You can find out more about de.fo and Eternity by checking out the artist’s Instagram, Facebook, or Twitter socials.
