New Music: ecopunk – sand & tears (feat. Di Ever)
With sand & tears, Barcelona-based Belarusian producer Michael Anufriev, aka ecopunk, enchanted us with his particular take on dream pop.
Even the most beautiful cities in the world can seem flawed if you don’t find your place within the streets and sounds, something that ecopunk looks at in the lyrics. The protagonist is driven to look like they’re fitting in, even when they don’t feel like that on the inside.
That sensation is captured in the contrast between the still, dream pop ambience of the Di Ever’s vocals and the skittering percussion and dreamy synths that echo city bells and the ever-changing urban soundscape.
“[sand & tears is] very personal,” says ecopunk. “It’s about feeling lonely in Barcelona, even when the city is full of light and life. I wrote it to capture that mix of sadness and beauty.”
The project’s sophomore single, you can listen to sand & tears and ecopunk’s my favorite loss debut on Bandcamp, SoundCloud, and Spotify. Hit up ecopunk on Instagram for all his latest music news.
