Sydneysider Hollie Col recently had a sold-out Australian tour of her own earlier this year, adding to performances with The Rubens, Kodaline and Dan Sultan. Her blend of confessional lyrics and pop hooks works well with those acts, as you can hear on Unholy.

You can’t help fall for Col’s voice; part Debbie Harry, part Natalie Merchant, in the way it manages to remain grounded, even as it tempts the listener to emotional flights of fancy. There’s a hint of country in the folk and rock infused arrangement, as the melody takes a subtle but firm approach to drawing the listener in. Bittersweet but beautiful – that’s Unholy.

Unholy is out now and can be streamed on Spotify and other major digital outlets. Check out Col’s Facebook page, as well as their Instagram and Twitter accounts to find out about the track. Col has a number of European gigs coming up, including a Harrison Storm support slot in our home town on November 6th at The Castle.
