New Music: Late Guest at the Party – CIAO

On their new single, CIAO, Late Guest at the Party incorporate New York No Wave rhythms into a European post-punk sound.

The fuzzed-up production and languid vocals have the louche energy of The Velvet Underground, but the dominant theme on the track is a Sonic Youth style anti-rock attitude, one where it’s cool to just dance whatever way you want, as long as you’re having fun. Make sure you wear your sunglasses for the best effect, though.

States the band, “CIAO is a bass-driven alt rock with a small hypnotic Italian mantra, reflecting our roots (two of us are Italian). First of four singles from our upcoming album, it sets the tone with immersive grooves and raw tension. Fans of Yves Tumor and Boko Yout will hear familiar grit with a Mediterranean twist. It’s a hymn to failure! [The] song features also Plato III from Polyvinyl Records.”

CIAO is now streaming on SoundCloud, YouTube, and Spotify. For all the latest album news, head to Facebook, TikTok, and Instagram.
