New Music: Mirrorball – Take a Shot

Los Angeles’ indie outfit Mirrorball – comprising singer/songwriter Alexandra Johnstone and multi-instrumentalist/composer Scott Watson – treat us to a taste of their upcoming EP with the lush sounds of Take a Shot.

The song was produced by Chris Coady (Beach House, Yeah Yeah Yeahs), and you can tell why the duo chose to work with him. He has the perfect touch for Mirrorball’s seamless fusion of dreampop and indie, as the song explores the shadows where dreampop and shoegaze meet.

Johnstone’s vocals have a similarly ethereal sound and emotional resonance to Lætitia Sadier, giving the song a light but busy feeling, sitting in a blissful spot between Beach House, Slowdive, and Still Corners.
