New Music: Sätilä – Expired

Sätilä (Teemu Sätilä) is a London-based Finnish musician who has recently branched out to producing his own music for the first time. New track Expired is the first fruits of that, and you can check on the song below.

The very sophisticated, chilled approach to indie-electro gives the track a very 80s synth/rock crossover atmosphere, but with elements of modern ‘big room’ pop behind the melody and chorus to give it a very fresh sound. Sätilä’s vocals fit that like a glove, laden with feeling and delicately drawing out the emotional message of the lyrics. If you like the more reflective side of White Lies and Tears for Fears, then this song is for you.

The artist has this to say about Expired: “The song was written over the Internet with a songwriter friend in Australia three years ago. It’s about the first love, last love kind of situation where after a relationship has ended you search for remains of love, only to realise that your heart for that person has expired.”

Expired is also the first of his tracks he produced himself, he adds. “I felt like I needed to figure this one out myself so as I was finishing a bigger chunk of music in London last year, this was one of them. A friend engineered and recorded some of it and also mixed it, but the vision is solely mine. I also had my drummer and guitarist come in the studio to contribute. The guitarist, Miko Tekoniemi, brought some brilliant riffs and sounds that lifted the track.”

Expired by Sätilä is out now and you can get information on how to listen to the song over on his Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter feeds.
