New Music: Stars and Rabbit – Naked King
Hot on the heels of their Little Mischievous video and the release of the Rainbow Aisle album on the 26th of February, Stars and Rabbit once again entranced us with Naked King from the LP. Listen below, and you’ll know why.
Inspired by The Emperor’s New Clothes, the song sees Elda Suryani and Didit Saad merge indie rhythms and electronic experimentalism to great effect. Light, psychedelia-tinged guitars open the track, swimming round Elda Suryani’s vocals as if in a heavenly duet. They make up the central core of the song, as soft synths and lush strings wash in and out of perception, combining to confect a sweet sense of serenity. Though contemplative, Naked King looks outward and also seeks to engage the listener: the children’s choir and assertive guitar solo bringing the song to a euphoric crescendo, with Elda Suryani’s performance directing the song to ever greater heights.
Stars and Rabbit will be playing tracks from the album at M Bloc Space in Jakarta on the 4th of March. To listen to Rainbow Aisle, head over the duo’s Facebook or Instagram accounts to get more information.
