New Music: Talking Violet Sparjammer 67

  • New Music: Talking Violet Sparjammer 67

Canadian shoegaze/dreampop quartet Talking Violet follow up the release of their debut Round Dreams EP by dropping lead track Sparjammer 67 as a single, replete with a Ryan Brough directed video – you can watch it below.

Awash with reverbed guitar, the track takes a respectful but not reverential approach to the genre, its warm guitars swirls and whirl, like a leaf caught in an eddy, but with McKenzie Burrows’ muscular drumming grounding the more ethereal, hazy vocals of Jill Goyeau.

The male vocal harmonies add to the sense of reverie, leaving the listener with a warm, fuzzy feeling inside.

If you loved the complex melodies of the Cocteau Twins and the dense intensity of MBV, Sparjammer 67 is very much for you.

You can stream and download Sparjammer 67 and the Round Dreams EP on Bandcamp, Spotify, Google Play and iTunes.
