Raucous Manchester trio Woman You Stole certainly grabbed our attention with their lively third single SHAKE! The band recorded the track with Simon ‘Ding’ Archer (The Fall, Pixies, PJ Harvey and Black Francis bassist) so you know it’s going to be raw and loud! Check it out below.
Operating on the punky end of the post-punk genre, the song eschews darkness and mystery and goes for a DIY, direct and daring route – think more the Au Pairs and B-52s, less Bauhaus. Loud and proud, the guitars swagger, the percussion bristles and the vocals are a cheeky but defiant call to arms. It’s political for sure and there’s certainly nothing wrong with that, but it carries itself off with such street urchin panache it’s sure to bring a smile to your face.
The band say that SHAKE! is their ‘call to action to challenge the wrongful gender stereotyping in society today that causes discrimination.’
SHAKE! will be available in CD format as well as to stream or download on all major platforms including Spotify on 29th November. The band has an official launch party on the same day; check out their Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter accounts for information on ticket prices and availability.
