New Music: spill tab – decompose
Los Angeles based David and Claire are spill tab, who cite acts such as Japanese House, Steve Lacy, and ELIZA as influences. The duo are on to their third release of 2019 with the dreamy exploration of mortality that is decompose.
The song, which the duo says is ‘a story of disintegrating love, slowly decaying from years of neglect and complacency, already buried 6 feet under, and decomposing’, has a similar vibrancy to the work of Charlotte Gainsbourg or Christine and the Queens.
The words are a means of exploring deeper themes than you’d find in most songs, those hard to define moments and emotions, something they have in common with the classics of chanson or the more reflective works of French rock. The song is not just an intellectual exercise though, Claire’s vocals lend the track a peculiar pop sensibility as does the gently rolling, emotionally reassuring arrangement.
decompose is out now and available to stream and download on all major digital platforms – you can find out more by clicking here. Check out their Facebook or Instagram feeds for information on upcoming dates and releases.
