New Music: TWIST HELIX – Newcastle

Published On: January 30th, 2020|

Newcastle band Twist Helix are bidding a fond farewell to their Ouseburn album with a video for the album opener, named after their hometown. Check out the video below, which is a fine advert for the city.

Those familiar with the music of Bea Garcia (vocals & keyboards), Matthew Barron (bass) and James Walker (drums) will know what to expect, but there’s still plenty to enjoy in the travelogue nature of the video.

If you’re new to the band though, their electric mix of synthpop, folk and stadium goth is bound to grab you by the shoulders and shake you full of joy. Garcia’s imperious air is a fine vessel for singing about a grand old city, grounded even as if reaches for the sky. They’ve set the bar high for their new material, but the trio have a fine pedigree in creating intimate, stirring music.

The band will be debuting new material on the 28th of February at the Cumberland Arms in Newcastle. You can find out more about the gig, the band and the Ouseburn album over on Facebook and Twitter.
