New Music: Twin Ritual – Metaphor

Published On: February 7th, 2021|

It’s been a while since we’ve feature San Diego’s Twin Ritual. The band has been busy since we covered Norma Jean back in late 2019, and if you’re familiar with their sound, you’ll find Metaphor a pleasing listening experience.

The lyrics and melody channel the early 80s – especially The Smiths, but also the more anthemic sounds of James. In Laura Levenhagen, it also has a vocal presence that reminds me of Debbie Harry or Jane Wiedlin, bringing a pop sensibility to a song that straddles both the melancholy of post-punk and the bright, immediate essence of indie-pop.

You can listen to Metaphor on Apple Music and Spotify, while you can download the track and more of the band’s music at Bandcamp. Be sure to discover more about Twin Ritual on Facebook, Twitter, or Instagram, where you can also find more listening options for Metaphor.

Twin Ritual is Laura Levenhagen on vocals, Antonio Estrada on guitar, Anthony Ramirez on bass, and Michael Buehl on drums.
