New Music: Amber Days – Generation

Published On: July 5th, 2026|

Amber Days are an unusual but engaging proposition: the anguish of Radiohead expressed via smooth, controlled arrangements.

Generation is from the band’s new On The Run album and is a succinct representation of its breadth and scope. It is on the fringes of dream pop, cosmic synths melding with a melody that borders on the lightly coloured late-night rock and jazz hybrid Steely Dan helped to create and popularise.

That’s not meant to imply that the track finds itself within a retro groove, more that Amber Days obviously put a lot of emphasis on the craft of writing and recording music, and putting together an album that has a cohesion and confidence about its stylish sound and reflective – and in the case of Generation, existential – lyrics. There you find the comparison to the lyrics of Thom Yorke, large concepts reduced to their essentials, then transformed into words that are relatable and occasionally emotionally raw.

On The Run was released on the 3rd of July to download on Bandcamp and can be heard on Spotify. To learn more about Amber Days and On The Run, make your way to the band’s Facebook and Instagram feeds.
