New Music: Tsar B – Song by the sea

With a new album and a European tour, 2026 is already looking busy for Belgian artist Tsar B. Song by the sea is a glimpse of what is coming our way.

Alt-pop with a baroque attitude, that individualistic approach is heightened by the gothic folk tones of the vocals. Like the song of the siren, it draws you into the track, giving the lyrics’ brief pen pictures and allusions to classical myths a piquancy that will leave you wanting more.

“Song by the sea is a song about two lovers entwined in an eternal hug, transformed into stone like the lovers of Pompeii, sanctified, canonized, as they made love on the beach,” says Tsar B.

The song is also an early insight into the themes and sound of her upcoming album, The Writer, set for release early 2026. She shares: “The Writer is kind of an autobiographical story of me falling deeply in love with a writer’s words – ending up consumed by my feelings, trying to distinguish the difference between love and the act of crushing.”

“Until I meet him, prompting an exchange of letters – a book for an album, the latter eventually becoming The Writer. I read a book and fell platonically, yet deeply, in love with this unknown writer. I decided to meet him.”

“We fell in love, he wrote a book to me, and as an answer, this is my letter back to the young poet, in the form of an album. A book where I weep over the world and my deepest, darkest feelings, but above all, a testament to love and passion.”
